Kit Beuret, brother of Peter Beuret (Member 36,471), spotted these Cirrus intortus clouds over Kailua, Oahu, Hawai’i. This variety of Cirrus cloud gets its name from the Latin verb intorquere, which means ‘to twist, to turn, to entangle’. Indeed, the dazzling streaks of ice-crystal cloud do seem to be dancing energetically like a troupe of hula dancers.A Hawaiian proverb, ‘Aʻa i ka hula, waiho i ka hilahila i ka hale, is used to encourage bold participation in many aspects of life. It translates to ‘When one wants to dance the hula, leave the bashfulness at home.’
