5. Happy is he that hath the God of Jacob for his help, whose hope is in the LORD his God:
6. Which made heaven, and earth, the sea, and all that therein is: which keepeth truth for ever:
7. Which executeth judgment for the oppressed: which giveth food to the hungry. The LORD looseth the prisoners:
8. The LORD openeth the eyes of the blind: the LORD raiseth them that are bowed down: the LORD loveth the righteous:
9. The LORD preserveth the strangers; he relieveth the fatherless and widow: but the way of the wicked he turneth upside down.
Psalm 146:5-9
The psalmist proclaims the God of Jacob is the true God, of every Israelite, and every believing Gentile.
Both are helped by the Lord in infirmities, temptations, afflictions, against every enemy of theirs souls, leading them to heaven, and everlasting glory and happiness.
This is the true God that created the heavens and the earth. In Him is truth for He can not lie.
Christ the Mediator between sinful men and God Almighty, by His sacrifice, He has defeated the oppressor Satan, and redeemed all men's iniquities.
Christ is the bread of life, and the living water, He feeds the spiritually hungry with the same word, it being milk for babes and meat for strong men.
Christ set free the prisoners of sin and death, by defeating Satan.
Christ restored the spiritual sight of the lost, and changed their heart and nature to become children of God.
The Lord Christ is our righteousness there is no other, we have all fallen short, yet Christ is faithful.
The Lord Christ has preserved the strangers, the Gentile nations, and has given us access to heaven and eternal life. Amen.
