26. And they that heard it said, Who can be saved?27. And he said, The things which are impossible with men are possible with God. 28. Then Peter said, Lo, we have left all, and followed thee.29. And he said unto them, Verily I say unto you, There is no man that hath left house, or parents, or brethren, or wife, or children, for the kingdom of God's sake,30. Who shall not receive manifold more in this present time, and in the world to come life everlasting.Luke 18:26-30 Jesus has just told the young rich man to sell all he has and give it to the poor and follow Him. And Jesus sees him leaving very sorrowful, for he had much. And Jesus says it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter heaven. And they say who can be saved, meaning, they just heard Christ tell him to sell all he had. And they had nothing. Christ explained that the power of God could reduce the size of a camel to pass through a needle's eye, and it was powerful enough to change a rich man's heart. What man could not do God is able. Peter says we have left all and followed You. They thought that Christ's kingdom was on earth, and all the rich and powerful people would be following Christ. And he was not able at this time to understand their reward. Christ tells them all that here they will receive peace and satisfaction, not found in worldly pleasures. And in the next world, eternal life. This promise extends to us also. Amen.
