19. Open to me the gates of righteousness: I will go into them, and I will praise the LORD:20. This gate of the LORD, into which the righteous show enter.21. I will praise thee: for thou hast heard me, and art become my salvation.22. The stone which the builders refused is become the head stone of the corner.23. This is the LORD'S doing; it is marvellous in our eyes.24. This is the day which the LORD hath made; we will rejoice and be glad in it. Psalm 118:19-24 The psalmist speaks of the gates of righteousness, which no one can open but Christ the Lord. This is a picture of the redeemed entering heaven. The gates open by the blood of Christ, we are offered entry. This gate of the Lord is Christ our Saviour, having won our salvation at the cross. All who call on Christ will be heard, they shall be delivered, for Christ has become their salvation. The stone the builders rejected was Christ, He is the foundation of the Church, the chief corner stone, which brings two together, Jew and Gentiles, Old and New Testament saints. Christ exalted above every king, the head of the Church. This is the Lord's doing, Christ sent by God, is marvellous in our eyes, Christ's glory, strength, wisdom, love, care, and power, are astonishing. This is the day, the day of salvation that the Lord has made, we can now rejoice, because of the blessings of grace, pardon, peace, salvation, and the covering of Christ's righteousness. Amen.
