20. I have found David my servant; with my holy oil have I anointed him:21. With whom my hand shall be established: mine arm also shall strengthen him. 22. The enemy shall not exact upon him; nor the son of wickedness afflict him. and I will beat down his spouse before his face and plugged him. That hate him, but my papers and my mercy shall be with him. And in my name, shall his horn be exalted.Psalm 89:20-24 This psalm written around 538 B.C. during Babylonian captivity. This would be around the time of Daniel. Verse 20 is the Almighty speaking of His Son the Messiah, His own Son is His servant, to be Redeemer and Savior of sinners. And to be a ransom for them. The holy oil is not that with which King David was anointed, Christ was anointed with the Holy Ghost. God's presence in Christ as man, and Mediator shows the greatness of man's redemption. No one could do this, but Christ. Who was made strong by the Almighty for Himself and the working of salvation for us. Standing firm under the mighty weight of all our sins, and the wrath of the Almighty, He failed not. The enemy Satan could not defeat Christ. Satan deceived Eve but failed to deceive Christ in the wilderness. Christ's foes, the unbelieving Jews and Gentiles, shall be broken to pieces like pottery. A picture of complete destruction. The faithfulness of God has always been with Christ respecting His work of salvation and His glory to follow. And though no mercy shown to Christ, we are blessed with God's mercy because of Christ, receiving fulness of grace, justification, pardon, sanctification, and adoption. For this reason Christ's name is exalted above all others, and He sits at the Father's right hand making intercession for us. Take hold of this message, for this was known over 2,500 years ago. And it's truth and power have not diminished over time. Amen.
