37. Blessed are those servants, whom the lord when he cometh shall find watching: verily I say unto you, that he shall gird himself, and make them to sit down to meet, and will come forth and serve them. 38. And if he shall come in the second watch, or come in the third watch, and find them so, blessed are those servants.39. And this know, that if the goodman of the house had known what hour the thief would come, he would have watched, and not have suffered his house to be broken through.40. Be ye therefore ready also: for the Son of man cometh at an hour when ye think not.Luke 12:37-40 The evangelist speaks of men waiting for their master to return from a wedding, and when he knocks, they immediately open the gate to him. Each one dressed, ready for battle, and all the lights on. This is a picture of the servants of Christ when He returns and finds them doing His work, alert, ready at an instant to repel the enemies of Christ. As the master showed respect to his servants, Christ will when He appears to His faithful servants, at the end. Will make them partakers of all the glories of eternal life. Here is another example, if the men left to watch over the property had known what time the thief would come, they would have gotten reinforcements, and defended the property. Meaning we have no idea the hour Christ will return, so we must have a vigilant attitude, being on guard against Satan and his devils. So we are not surprised by an attack while we linger at ease waiting for Christ to return. Be prepared for Christ's arrival, be doing His business, and when He comes or you appear before Him, you will be rewarded. Amen.
