5. My soul, wait thou only upon God; for my expectation is from him. 6. He only is my rock and my salvation: he is my defense; I shall not be moved.7. In God is my salvation and my glory: the rock of my strength, and my refuge, is in God.8. Trust in him at all times; ye people, pour out your heart before him: God is a refuge for us. Selah. 9. Surely men of low degrees are vanity, and men of high degree are a lie: to be laid in the balance, they are altogether lighter than vanity.Psalm 62:5-9 The psalmist wrote this song 1023 years before the birth of Christ. And it is clear he knew Christ as Savior, to those that seek Him He will make Himself known. We are taught here to wait on Christ, for He alone is our salvation, it can come from no other. Our expectation is our hope in Christ, who truly keeps every promise. The unmovable solid foundation of the Church, and our Savior. Because He is our place of safety, our strength and our hope are in Him. And we shall not be moved off the narrow way in times of adversity. Because His blood is sufficient, we need look no farther for our redemption, pardon, for His grace, and mercy are plentiful. Our trust in His work at Calvary and His Gospel is not in vain. Fallen man, the men of sin, unfaithful, not to be trusted, and the men of wealth and power, those in high places and rulers. These are from the same lot, being no different from each other, without Christ all go to the same place. The psalmist ponders, that if you gathered them all together, and put them on one side of a balance, and took vanity and put in on the other side, that vanity, meaning nothing would out weigh all. It is Christ who saved us from destruction and gave us value. Amen.
