4. LORD, make me to know mine end, and the measure of my days, what it is: that I may know how frail I am.5. Behold, thou hast made my days as an handbreadth; and my age is nothing before thee: verily every man at his best state is altogether vanity. Selah. 6. Surely every man walketh in a vain shew: surely they are disquieted in vain: he heapeth up riches, and knoweth not who shall gather them.7. And now, Lord, what wait I for? my hope is in thee. 8. Deliver me from all my transgressions: make me not the reproach of the foolish.Psalm 39:4-8 The psalmist has said he will keep silent and not even speak good things. In the process of time, he is overwhelmed by his thoughts and begins to speak. Asking God to make him understand that death is coming and time is short. To understand the body is on a ticking clock, and all men shall leave this earth. Compared to eternity our age is nothing it will not even make a mark on the line of eternal existence. Men created in the image of God, because of sin are fallen short, and despite intelligence or wealth being without Christ will pass to destruction. And now he understands that in life being long or short, the things that perish are not to be exchanged for all that is eternal in Christ. And that the salvation of Christ, which delivers from the bondage of sin and its punishment, and from the rule of sin, for if it did not, we would all live miserably carrying our guilt to the end. Amen.
