1. Then he called his twelve disciples together, and gave them power and authority over all devils, and to cure diseases.2. And he sent them to preach the kingdom of God, and to heal the sick.3. And he said unto them, Take nothing for your journey, neither staves, nor scrip, neither bread, neither money; neither have two coats apiece. 4. And whatsoever house ye enter into, there abide, and thence depart.5. And whosoever will not receive you, when ye go out of that city, shake off the very dust from your feet ,for a testimony against them.Luke 9:1-5 The evangelist speaks of Christ giving power and authority to His disciples. You understand that you can not give anyone anything that you do not possess. Christ gave them the authority over devils to cast them out of men. And to heal the sick showing that the power of God was with them. Take note even Judas who betrayed Christ was give this power. Taking nothing for your journey, all things needed by the disciples being supplied by those they ministered to. And they were to stay in the place offered them, and not run around looking for better accommodations. And for the cities that refused hospitality, and refused to hear the gospel. They were to shake the very dust off their feet to show the city down to the dust was defiled, and they would have no more to do with them. Also, they carried nothing into the city and were taking nothing out of it, not even its dust. It is good for us if those who refuse to listen to the gospel message that we take nothing from them and owe them nothing. Amen.
