2. The LORD is my rock, and my fortress, and my deliverer; my God, my strength, in whom I will trust; my buckler, and the horn of my salvation, and my high tower.3. I will call upon the LORD, who is worthy to be praised: so shall I be saved from mine enemies.4. The sorrows of death compassed me, and the floods of ungodly men made me afraid. 5. The sorrows of hell compassed me about: the snares of death prevented me.6. In my distress I called upon the LORD, and cried unto my God: he heard my voice out of his temple, and my cry came before him, even into his ears.Psalm 18:2-6 The psalmist has a close relationship with the Lord Christ. To know Him as a sure foundation, a deliverer from destruction, a shelter from harm, a shield from Satan, Savior and Redeemer, all hope of eternal life and happiness, is in Christ our Lord. All who have Christ as Lord, my call upon Him, giving Him the praise due Him, for He alone has defeated Satan, and every one of you enemies is commanded by him. These next verses I have experienced first hand, as a mechanic, I was repairing a fuel tank it ignited melting my shirt and pants burned my left arm sending me to a hospital. After leaving the hospital to recover, I began to contemplate my situation. The fuel take could have exploded and killed me immediately. I surely would have missed heaven that day. But it is the mercy of our Lord we are not consumed in our trespasses, I was given a second chance. I was in my mid forties, I am now 71, I am not perfect, but each day has been a journey to be closer to Christ. I am very aware that death can come when you least expect it. Christ alone is the door of eternal life, you will never know what you have lost, the joy of Christ and His Kingdom, there will only be destruction. Amen.
