1. How long wilt thou forget me, O LORD? for ever? how long wilt thou hide thy face from me?
2. How long shall I take counsel in my soul, having sorrow in my heart daily? how long shall mine enemy be exalted over me?
3. Consider and hear me, O LORD my God: lighten mine eyes, lest I sleep the sleep of death;
4. Lest mine enemy say, I have prevailed against him; and those that trouble me rejoice when I am moved.
5. But I have trusted in thy mercy, my heart shall rejoice in thy salvation.
Psalm 13:1-5
When caught in the web of sin and we begin to feel the absence of God and His Spirit, we think God has forgotten us. We could never be more wrong.
But there is a drawing away until the sin is dealt with.
And and our sorrow for the loss of the relationship is heartbreaking. Sin separates from God. But we are not abandoned confession and repentance restores us.
Christ has defeated our enemy Satan.
And we, as the psalmist, may trust in Christ's mercy forgiveness and pardon.
Christ left nothing to chance when He went to the cross.
The enemy and the world will rejoice when sin has moved us off the narrow path.
But we have a Savior that will never leave us, the author and finisher of our faith, Christ the Lord.
And we shall rejoice in His salvation for all eternity. Amen.
