19. And John calling unto him two of his disciples sent them to Jesus, saying, Art thou he that should come? or look we for another?20. When the men were come unto him, they said, John Baptist hath sent us unto thee, saying, Art thou he that should come? or look we for another?21. And in that same hour he cured many of their infirmities and plagues, and of evil spirits; and unto many that were blind he gave sight. 22. Then Jesus answering said unto them, Go your way, and tell John what things ye have seen and heard; how that the blind see, the lame walk, the lepers are cleansed, the deaf hear, the dead are raised, to the poor the gospel is preached.23. And blessed is he, whosoever shall not be offended in me.Luke 7:19-23 Jesus previously has brought back from death a widows son. And disciples of John come to him and recite this miracle in his ears. Now John is Jesus's cousin about 6 months older. And though he baptized Jesus, he was not a witness to Christ's miracles. He was only hearing stories because he was in prison. John sends to men so all could be reported back to him without errors. Asking are you the Messiah, or should we look elsewhere? Jesus begins to heal, and after telling the men, go tell John what you have seen. John wanted to know for certain the Christ was the Messiah. And here Christ fulfills Isaiah 35: 1- 10. Restoring sight to those born blind the deaf hear the lame walk. The Gospel is revealed to the spiritually poor, those deaf to the voice of God. Spiritually dead are now alive. When John hears this, he has no doubt that Jesus is the Savior of the world. And Christ says, happy are those who do not doubt me, who do not deny me, who will trust and follow me. This said because John's disciples doubted Christ was the Messiah and were upset because of Christ's popularity and success. It is also necessary that the Gospel be preached in this generation, I needed it, and still need it daily. Without Christ there is no eternal joy, and that only leaves only suffering. Amen.
