View MoreToo many left-wingers have never read or never understood what the Constitution says about our government. We are a republic, not a democracy. That is the reason our Forefather came back right after the Constitution was signed and ratified to create the Bill of Rights. It strengthened our individual rights. The most important of these was the right to free speech and press. We soon restricted this right with libel and slander laws. We can say what we want as long as we do not lie and hurt other citizens. Second was the right to bear arms. This was not written to allow us to have hunting or sporting weapons, it was written to give us the right to hold an armed rebellion against a run-away government and restore the Constitution. We immediately included the Electoral College to protect small states against the will of large states. People who want to do away with the Electoral College are speaking treason. Our history is filled to the brim with big state versus small states. It is the reason we have a two tier Congress where the lower house represents the people by population and the upper house give every state equal footing with two senators regardless of its size. I personally would like to see the 17th Amendment repealed and the purpose of State Legislatures electing Senators returned. We do not need two houses of representatives, but that is just me. Then we have the admittance of states on a balanced scale of slave and non-slave states. It was an attempt to keep the balance between states. If you will spend a few minutes and read Article 4 you might be surprised to find out what it says. It would really upset many Liberals. Section 4 specifically says: "The United States shall guarantee to every State in this Union a Republican Form of Government, and shall protect each of them against Invasion; and on Application of the Legislature, or of the Executive (when the Legislature cannot be convened) against domestic Violence. Members of Congress, such as Bernie Sanders who has openly said he was an "American Socialist", is a traitor to the Constitution and should be immediately expelled from the Senate. Maybe his supporters in Vermont should be reminded that by voting for a socialist they too could be called traitors to this country. The end for today.
