3. And all went to be taxed, every one into his own city.4. And Joseph also went up from Galilee, out of the city of Nazareth, into Judaea, unto the city of David, which is called Bethlehem; (because he was of the house and lineage of David:)5. To be taxed with Mary his espoused wife, being great with child. 6. And so it was, that, while they were there, the days were accomplished that she should be delivered.7. And she brought forth her firstborn son, and wrapped him in swaddling clothes, and laid him in a manger; because there was no room for them in the inn.Luke 2:3-7 The evangelist describes Cyrenius as governor of Syria, which marks this time in history. The residents are taxed, men, women, and children. Joseph proceeded to do his duty, as Mary and himself were waiting to be called and registered. And here, the prophecy of the Messiah's birth is fulfilled. The meaning of Bethlehem is the house of bread. And here, Christ, the bread of life is born. Now, in this verse, we have that, Mary brought forth her firstborn son, and it does not say only son. The Gospels, which verify that Christ had brother's and sister's is here evident. We have Christ born and covered and laid in the manger for their means were meager. The Lord of all is in such a low estate no proper comforts for the King of kings. Because Joseph was not a wealthy man, and it is said there was no room at the inn. We have a decision to make in our heart, will we make room for Christ the Savior or keep Him outside. Only you can make the choice, it's personal and we will all be responsible for our choice. Choose this day who you will serve. The consequence or reward is eternal. Amen.
