6. Wilt thou not revive us again: that thy people may rejoice in thee?
7. Shew us thy mercy, O LORD, and grant us thy salvation.
8. I will hear what God the LORD will speak: for he will speak peace unto his people, and to his saints: but let them not turn again to folly.
9. Surely his salvation is nigh them that fear him; that glory may dwell in our land.
10. Mercy and truth are met together; righteousness and peace have kissed each other.
Psalm 85:6-10
The psalmist writes this song on the return of God's people from Babylon. This is a picture of Christ redeeming His people. Conversion is as dead men coming back to life. For all of us were dead in our trespasses.
Christ's has purchased grace and mercy for all. Grace is being given what we do not deserve. Mercy is not getting what we truly deserve. There is no pardoning mercy but through Christ. And Christ's grace brings justification, salvation, and eternal life.
Christ has spoken to all Jew and Gentile alike with the Gospel of peace.
This Gospel is how those dead in sin are brought back to life. Picture a dying flower laid out on the ground brought back to its beauty by giving it water. So we are in need of Christ the Living Water. He is not hidden nor hard to find. He will turn none away who seek Him with their whole heart.
The heart has many rooms and Jesus needs to be Lord in every room.
This world has nothing but death to give. Christ is the Light, pulling us out of the darkness of sin, into His marvellous light, and life. Amen and praise His name.
