1. In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.2. The same was in the beginning with God.3. All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing that was made.4. In him was life; and the life was the light of men.5. And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not.John 1:1-5 This will bring joy to the children of God and anguish to all the rebellious. Christ is the Word of God, He is God and speaks with the authority of God. He was from the beginning, before anything was made, and He was the Creator of all things. Christ is the expressed image of the Father, in all things equal to Him, and a distinct person from Him. And the Word, not the written word nor the gospel, but Christ, being God, was made flesh, His name Emanuel, meaning God with us. He was God, with God, before anything was created. All things being made by Him shows His deity and the wisdom to form all things, and by His power, keep them in order. His authority as God is seen in the conversion of a sinner into a new creature as a child of God, an heir to the reward. In Christ was life. He possessed it from everlasting, not receiving it. One translation says lives, seeing He shares the same life as the Father and Spirit. And this life was the light of men, meaning they had knowledge and understanding of Christ as when He breathed life into man and made him a living soul. Now this before the fall of man into sin, man had a perfect knowledge of God, the Trinity, man's dependence on God, his obligation to God, and knew what it was like to have fellowship with Him. All this was lost when sin came. It separated the Creator from the creation. Christ is the light of the world, but sin darkened the minds of men now having no knowledge of the perfection of God. Of Christ or the Spirit. Or of the consequences of sin or salvation of Christ. Man was thrust out of the presence of God. Now darkness covers him, Satan rules over him, he hastens in his frail life to destruction. For this reason, Christ came to restore the creation back to the Creator so he may receive what he was created for. We were not created to be destroyed, but many will travel on this road to its end. But the very thought of salvation is from the Spirit, who will bring you into the knowledge of Christ and salvation, and you shall never be the same. Temptation will not stop, but you will have the power to put it in its place because of your love for Christ. Through Christ, you will do valiantly because He is with you and loved you so much that He went to the cross so you could live. So, forsake foolishness and be wise and follow the One that loves you. Amen.
