35. I have seen the wicked in great power, and spreading himself like a green bay tree.
36. Yet he passed away, and lo, he was not: yea, I sought him, but he could not be found.
37. Mark the perfect man, and behold the upright: for the end of that man is peace.
38. But the transgressors shall be destroyed together: the end of the wicked shall be cut off.
39. But the salvation of the righteous is of the LORD: he is their strength in the time of trouble.
Psalm 37:35-39
The psalmist speaks of a wicked man in a place of authority, spiritual wickedness in a high place. Spread out like a large tree growing in its native soil, being anchored solid with deep roots. Boasting of his wealth and power.
Then he died suddenly with no time to repent. At that time, wealth and power, and all his possessions meant nothing, having no power to extend his life even for an hour.
The psalmist looked for him, but he was no longer on earth, and there being no place for him in heaven he went to the place prepared for devils.
Mark the perfect man, all saints in heaven started as filthy sinners, but at conversion to Christ, the Holy Ghost begins the work of sanctification, and this is a process the seed of grace maturing and changing a man into the image of Christ. He now chooses the way of Christ, and is covered in His righteousness.
Now, this man at his end shall have peace. Christ, the Door has opened heavens gates that he may enter.
All who are in heaven have been saved by Christ, Noah, Job, Daniel, and others have been called perfect, but they needed Christ just as we do. There is no salvation without Him, no reward, no pardon.
Christ is our ever present help, He is our strength when we are weak. He will not leave nor forsake us. Amen.
