2. The LORD is my rock, and my fortress, and my deliverer; my God, my strength, in whom I will trust; my buckler, and the horn of my salvation, and my high tower.3. I will call upon the LORD, who is worthy to be praised: so shall I be saved from my enemies.4. The sorrows of death compassed me, and the floods of ungodly men made me afraid. 5. The sorrows of hell compassed me about: the snares of death prevented me.6. In my distress I called upon the LORD, and cried unto my God: he heard my voice out of his temple, and my cry came before him, even into his ears.Psalm 18:2-6 This song by the psalmist comes from a soild relationship with Christ. Look now and see Christ our Lord who knows the Father in such an intimate way. The Father is Christ's God as man, His foundation, His place of safety in battle, His strength, His trust into which He placed His life. His shield for close combat and horn of His salvation who pushes, scattering and destroying all the enemies of God. His high tower is such a place of safety out of reach of any foe. Christ who often went to His Father in prayer, was strengthened and protected. Christ's time in the garden, where He was surrounded by death, and ungodly men. The sorrows of hell, taking on every sin of mankind with beatings and humiliation and finally death. The distress so great He asked if He could escape, but a faithful servant, the mediator between God and man, said He would do what His Father asked. And being strengthen in will to do all His Father laid out. Christ died for us, that we may live. All glory and honor to the Son of God our eternal Savior, Victorious King. Amen.
