1. Blessed is the man that walketh not in the councel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful.2. But his delight is in the law of the LORD; and in his law doth he meditate day and night.3. And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth his shall prosper.4. The ungodly are not so: but are like the chaff which the wind driveth away.5. Therefore the ungodly shall not stand in the judgment, nor sinners in the congregation of the righteous.6. For the LORD knoweth the way of the righteous: but the way of the ungodly shall perish.Psalm 1:1-6 This song expresses the happiness of a man described in the verses. Thee times blessed, he walks not in the councel of the ungodly, these are those who are wise to do evil, but have no knowledge to do good, and all their thoughts are against the Lord. I confess I was like this once. The second blessing is that he stands not in the way of sinners. We are all sinners. This word means missing the mark. There is a standard that the Creator has laid out for all men. Sinners have chosen this way that leads to destruction with no fear of the destination. I have repented and chosen the way Christ has given me. The third blessing is not sitting with the scornful. These people are proud they trust in their own righteousness and are desperately wicked. They mock death and hell, sin, and judgment. You would have seen them at the foot of the cross laughing at Jesus. These blessings can change a man like me, who now delights in God's word, and I am truly in it day and night. I was before an enemy of God, having no future but to be thrown out to utter destruction. Christ changed me from a dry dead tree to a tree planted by waters of eternal life. Alive bearing fruit with seeds that will produce more fruit for Christ's kingdom. The ungodly will not stand in the judgment but shall be judged. And those sinners who refuse Christ will not stand with those covered in Christ's Righteousness but shall be cast out. Jesus knows who loves Him and what they have left behind to stay close to Him. He also knows the fate of all who refused Him. Today is the day to choose life in Christ, and it is truly hell without Him. Amen.
