1. O give thanks unto the LORD, for he is good: for his mercy endureth for ever.
2. Let the redeemed of the LORD say so, whom he hath redeemed from the hand of the enemy;
3. And gathered them out of the lands, from the east, and from the west, from the north, and from the south.
4. They wandered in the wilderness in a solitary way; they found no city to dwell in.
5. Hungry and thirsty, their soul fainted in them.
Psalm 107:1-5
The Lord is good and worthy of thanksgiving and praise. He is the author of everything good.
But only the redeemed will do so, for before conversion, we are all under the judgment of sin.
God's people being brought out of Egypt is a picture of Christ's redeeming work.
God's people were slaves, living in bondage and confinement. With no hope.
Sinners are slaves to Satan, bound to him with sin, chained to every wicked word and deed. Under a death sentence that follows every second of every day.
But Christ has redeemed us from the curse of the law and the penalty. Instead of death, Christ gives us life eternal. We can find it nowhere else.
As God brought His people out of Egypt, and every place they were held captives. So Christ has redeemed those from all points of the compass.
To a place where He has said that He prepared for us. Where we shall ever be with Him.
Those in the desert were weak from lack of food and water.
But the redeemed of the Lord souls are fed by the Living Word of God.
If you're not reading, your soul is starving. How will you know which path to take? How will you have fellowship with God.
Satan shouts loudly to each individual you don't need to read God's word.
Because it is powerful. You will learn God's truths.
You will realize your need for Him, for guidance, forgiveness, and hope.
It will safeguard against false teachings and give you the tools to live for God. Amen.
