This meme is making the rounds, but it’s dumb. And here’s why:
1. They’re not “baby cows.” They’re calves. At least get the terminology right. 🙄
2. We are also not baby almonds. 🤷‍♀️😂
3. Calves still receive mother’s milk - particularly during the most important time, which is the first 24 hours when it’s critical they recieve the most important nutrients… called “colostrum.”
4. Cows produce too much milk for a calf alone. Some goes to us, some goes to the calf. It’s one of the most nutritious drinks we can consume. Could you imagine how expensive & time consuming it would be to feed and mix ONLY milk replacer powder to calves?
5. Cows are “upcyclers.” Both almonds and cows require resources, but the byproducts of the almond industry (like hulls) are actually fed to cattle…instead of ending up in a landfill.
6. The dairy industry pledges to be carbon neutral or better by the year 2040 and are on target to do so. Not only do we get nutritious dairy and beef products from cattle, but we also get thousands of byproducts like lotions, soaps, musical instrument strings, lifesaving pharmaceuticals, sports equipment, renewable energy, textiles and more. Cattle are EXTREMELY sustainable.
Both almonds and dairy come from farms. Drink whichever you prefer. The problem lies in the unnecessary attacks and disinformation campaigns towards the dairy industry, which come from well funded vegan animal rights activist groups and “dairy alternative” food products. This is why you may want to think twice about purchasing certain brands. Oatly and Beyond meat are a couple of the worst culprits.
They’re profiting off of the “anti-dairy” campaigns through disinformation campaigns, plan and simple. Ever wonder why no one questions the carbon footprint of our daily coffee habits or our pets? Horses? Etc?
It’s only because the anti-meat and anti-dairy campaigns are well funded, and fear sells. That’s it.

It's not "almond milk". Milk comes from mammaries. Squeezing a fruit or a vegetable is called juicing it. The liquid that results is juice. Orange juice, grape juice etc. So "milk" made from squeezing a nut is actually... ... View More
