If you spend your life cloudspotting, you may come to link skies with specific times, people, and places. When Sarah Pearson (Member 61,162) shared a Cloud-a-Day with her friend Dan, he soon responded in kind with this picture of his favourite sky memory. It shows a mix of Stratocumulus (dark), Altocumulus (golden), and Cirrus clouds (pale yellow), which he spotted in 1987. ‘This was a particularly happy time for me,’ Dan told her. ‘It was the summer after my sophomore year in college, and I was in the backseat of a Volvo Sedan, the boxy, old-school kind with a Grateful Dead bumper sticker. We were speeding through the Nevada Desert with the Allman Brothers blasting on the stereo, singing that “love is everywhere”. The colour and texture of the clouds felt unique and so beautiful, I didn’t want to look away.’ Next time you find yourself in a good place, why not look to the sky for a passing cloud formation onto which you can tether your memories?
