2. And when they had bound him, they led him away, and delivered him to Pontius Pilate the governor. 3. Then Judas, which had betrayed him, when he saw that he was condemned, repented himself, and brought again the thirty pieces of silver to the chief priests and elders,4. Saying, I have sinned in that I have betrayed the innocent blood. And they said, What is that to us? see thou to that. 5. And he cast down the pieces of silver in the temple, and departed, and went and hanged himself.6. And the chief priests took the silver pieces, and said, It is not lawful for to put them into the treasury, because it is the price of blood.Matthew 27:2-6 Here, Jesus is brought to the Roman governor of Judea. Judas, seeing Jesus was condemned to death, has come to terms with what he has done. And can find no comfort. Sin is destructive and brings a burden of guilt, few can bear. To confess sin to God, brings forgiveness and salvation, to confess to men, brings worldly sorrow, as you can see, when they tell him, what is that to us, you see to it. If Judas had really know Christ, he would have found forgiveness. But now the silver has lost its glimmer and value. Now, it is tossed back into the temple. And then he hangs himself, sin never has a good outcome. And the priests are not innocent for their own words say it was the price of murder. The lesson is take your sin to Christ, and ask His forgiveness, He suffered and died for it, He will not refuse you. But if you expect mercy from men, they will just mock you. Amen.
