My favorite response to this question is the same reason a fly in a car going 60 miles an hour can fly from front windshield to the back with the same effort he could if the car was parked. The atmosphere is also moving

If you’re in the bullet train traveling at 200 miles per hour, and you walk to the forward to the front compartment, are you traveling at 203 miles per hour? No, because the environment in the train is contained. Same way the Earth (globe), because of gravity, contains the atmosphere.
