I think one of the biggest places of healing needed around intimacy and relationship is the way we experience speaking uncomfortable truths to others.
The simple fear that if I feel the need to tell someone something that I think they won’t like or appreciate—that I won’t be safe, that I will be judged, that I will be made wrong, that I will be attacked.
These fears of not being accepted with love create so many distortions in the way we relate with each other—all these places where we compromise our authenticity and manipulate, avoid, or cave in on ourselves because of the fear of it not being safe bring to our truth.
I am committed to being a safe space for the speaking and receiving of uncomfortable truths. It doesn’t mean that it will always be comfortable for me, and I might not always do it perfectly—
—but to me, it’s more important that you know I am a person who values your truth more than my comfort. And that if you’re being courageous enough to come to me with an uncomfortable truth that could ruffle my feathers—
—ultimately it’s reflecting to me that you care about our connection. And that, is intimacy.
I am grateful for your honesty. I am grateful for your willingness to trust me with you truth. And I will do my best to receive it gracefully, just as I pray that you will do your best to deliver it gracefully.
Because we’re all healing. We’re all unraveling from a system of trauma and that taught us it’s not safe to be who we are. And it’s our sacred responsibility (if we choose to accept the role) to create new blueprints for what true *safety* in relationship means.
Where safety doesn’t mean being in control or being right—but instead safety means being in genuine connection with each other—willing to feel everything we’ve resisted feeling you until this point—because we feared it might be too painful to be just that fully and deeply alive.
We are remembering, my brother and sisters. We are remember that it is safe to open and expand, and that we can learn to be in the dance of holding ourselves and holding each other—finding our throne and center point within—know that it’s always moving and evolving.
That’s the Tantra of life—learning to be in the artful dance of aligning with the truth arising within us and in connection with other in every moment—and in so doing, fining our way back into infinite connection and Union with the divine.
May we all remember who we truly are...
