In 1965, in Mezhyrich, Ukraine, excavations uncovered 4 huts, made up of 149 mammoth bones. Being at least 15,000 years old, these huts are some of the oldest shelters known to have been constructed by pre-historic man.The huts were constructed using large mammoth bones, including skulls, jawbones, and long bones, to create the framework. This framework was likely covered with animal hides to keep out the cold, making the structures more habitable during the harsh winters.
