He is asking which commandment is the greatest, the ones on the first tablet pertaining to God, or the second tablet that pertains to men. Take note anytime they asked Jesus anything it was not because they sought instruction it was to trap Him so they could accuse Him. Jesus's answers love the Lord, with all your heart, soul, and mind.Saying this is the first in commandments, it is the root of all the commandments. There are 613 commandments of God. Jesus reduces these to two, the second is to love your neighbor, as yourself. Jesus says all the law and the prophets hang on these two. For if you obeyed these two with all your heart, soul, and mind, you would never break any of the others. The wisdom of Christ is shown to be greater than those who oppose Him. Amen.
