2. The kingdom of heaven is like unto a certain king, which made a marriage for his son,2. And sent forth his servants to call them that were bidden to the wedding: and they would not come.4. Again he sent forth other servants, saying, Tell them which are bidden, Behold, I have prepared my dinner: my oxen and my fatlings are killed, and all things are ready: come unto the marriage.5. But they made light of it, and went their ways, one to his farm, another to his merchandise:6. And the remnant took his servants, and entreated them spitefully, and slew them.Matthew 22:2-6 Jesus is speaking of what will take place before those who are chosen enter into the eternal kingdom. The marriage feast is the celebration of the redeemed, like a marriage, they shall forever be joined to the Savior Christ. The servants are the prophets and ministers of the Gospel message, calling the chosen to the eternal celebration. But just like today, they refused the invitation. And the love and patience of God sends more workers to compel them to come, telling them what provisions have been made, and again, come take part. This invitation was to the people of God. And they chose the things of the world having no regard for the everlasting reward. And they took His prophets and His ministers of the Gospel and murdered them. And at their worst they murdered the Son of God, Christ the King, the redeemer of the souls of men. Without Christ there will be no lasting joy, no reward, no life eternal. This a warning that a way to forgiveness was provided by the Father through His Son, and without Him there is only judgment and destruction for sin. Amen.
