Because FEMA’s housing efforts have been a TOTAL failure, they’ve now resulted to coercing landlords to EVICT their current tenants and replace them with FEMA tenants. FEMA has driven rent prices THROUGH THE ROOF, causing housing to become unaffordable to the masses, as FEMA is paying at LEAST 130% above market rates. Meanwhile, short term rentals sit vacant. Many of these newly displaced residents have lost their jobs due to the fire anyway, so their only choices are to be homeless or move off the island. They’re receiving absolutely ZERO aid whatsoever.
