2. Many there be which say my of soul, There is no help for him in God. Selah. 3. But thou, O LORD, art a shield for me; my glory, and the lifter up of mine head. 4. I cried unto the LORD with my voice, and he heard me out of his holy hill. Selah. 5. I laid me down and slept; I awaked; for the LORD sustained me. 6. I will not be afraid of ten thousands of people, that have set themselves against me round and about.Psalm 3:2-6 We see here in the life of the psalmist that his enemies thought there was no deliverance or salvation for him, just as Christ's enemy Satan thought the cross was His final end. But God has the last word, a shield that can not be penetrated, who He blesses no one can curse, who He protects no one can harm. The psalmist has a solid trust in the Lord that wherever he is, he knows when he cries out the Lord hears him. He is not afraid to sleep or rest, for the Lord takes care of him. Such confidence in the Lord, that if he was surrounded by ten thousand enemies, he would have nothing to fear. And all who trust Christ have the same protection, forgiveness, pardon, provision, the Lord will withhold no good thing from those that love Him and walk in His ways. Amen.
