1. Praise ye the LORD. Praise the LORD, O my soul.2. While I live will I praise the LORD: I will sing praises unto my God while I have any being.3. Put not your trust in princes, nor in the son of man, in whom there is no help.4. His breath goeth forth, he returneth to his earth; in that very day his thoughts perish.5. Happy is he that hath the God of Jacob for his help, whose hope is in the LORD his God:Psalm 146:1-5 Each psalm from 146 to 150, begin and ends with Hallelujah, meaning, Praise ye the Lord, it is a joyful praise. The psalmist is praising the Lord Christ. The Lord of creation, redemption, the Lord of every blessing and mercy. The psalmist engages his heart and soul all that he is capable of. He uses instruments and songs that overflow with thanksgiving for all the good the Lord has done. His advice is not to trust men, not even those in power, for they are fragile with a time constraint and can give no lasting help. For all men shall fade away, all their dreams and plans end with the last breath. But the man who has Christ has eternal help and saving grace that can not be found elsewhere. His trust is fully in the Creator, who made all things whose mercy endures forever. The help that comes from Christ is sure paid in His blood. It has opened the door to eternal life. Covering us in His Righteousness, we are now able to receive His reward. He has removed the punishment of sin, defeating death, and hell, along with Satan in a victorious display at the Cross and at His resurrection. Amen.
