1. O LORD, thou hast searched me, and known me.2. Thou knowest my downsitting and mine uprising, thou understandest my thought afar off.3. Thou compassest my path and my lying down, and art acquainted with all my ways.4. For there is not a word in my tongue, but, lo, O LORD, thou knowest it altogether.5. Thou hast beset me behind and before, and laid thine hand upon me.Psalm 139:1-5 The psalmist reveals his relationship with the Lord and his understanding of His greatness and power, and His knowledge of men. The all- knowing power of God is evident to the psalmist. Men fail in their acquisition of knowledge, but God knows all, and there is nothing hidden from Him. The psalmist is aware of God's care even when we are resting. Or sitting down to study His word, whether we understand or do we read with affection are we looking for doctrine to guide us, or reproof and corrections to keep on the right way. God knows the thoughts of men and what is in their hearts, even those things we have forgotten. We are surrounded by God all our ways are known, every evil thought and deed, which he will chastise, and every good word and work that He accepts. Every word before it is spoken is known. Having knowledge of what we need before we ask. God is on every side of us. His hand is on us for correction. Also, for power and protection and defense. As Christ knows us better than we know ourselves, yet He went to the cross to rescue us from destruction, this is His love shown in action. The next verse echoes my thoughts. Such knowledge is to wonderful for me, I have not the mind to understand it, by grace I am able to receive it. The love of Christ will surpass any thing we can imagine. Amen.
