22. And ye shall take a bunch of hyssop, and dip it in the blood that is in the bason, and strike the lentil and the two side posts with the blood that is in the bason; and none of you shall go out at the door of his house until the morning.23. For the LORD will pass through to smite the Egyptians; and when he seeth the blood upon the lintel, and on the two side post, the LORD will pass over the door, and will not suffer the destroyer to come in unto your houses to smite you.24. And ye shall observe this thing for an ordinance to thee and to thy sons for ever. Exodus 12:22-24 Moses has called the elders and instructed them how and when to kill the passover lamb. Now he tells them what to do with the blood, asking them to spread it on the upper door opening and the side posts of the doorway. Warning them not to go outside and see what the Lord is doing to the Egyptians. For the Lord is coming with the destroyer, and when he sees the blood, he will pass over that house. Now take notice that the destroyer does not look into the house to see if they are worthy, the blood is the answer. Just as we sinners are not worthy of Christ's eternal reward. But the Father sees the blood of His Son, and that we are covered in Christ's righteousness, and the Father no longer see our sin, because it has been taken away, put out of remembrance, along with its penalty. Amen.
