2. And, behold, they brought to him a man sick of the palsy, lying on a bed: and Jesus seeing their faith said unto the sick of the palsy; Son, be of good cheer; thy sins be forgiven thee. 3. And, behold, certain of the scribes said within themselves, This man blasphemeth.4. And Jesus knowing their thoughts said, Wherefore think ye evil in your hearts?5. For whether is easier, to say, Thy sins be forgiven thee; or to say, Arise, and walk?6. But that ye may know that the Son of man hath power on earth to forgive sins, (then saith he to the sick of the palsy,) Arise, take up thy bed, and go unto thine house.Matthew 9:2-6 This account of the healing power of Christ is also given in Mark chapter 2. Inhabitants of the city bring a man who is in such a state that he must be carried to Jesus. And Jesus sees them coming, He notices the faith of the men, bringing him to be healed, and the man being carried must have faith to be healed to seeing he has given consent to be carried. This man is near death his spirit waning in him, and Christ takes note of the distress of his soul through sins, and transgressions. And says be cheerful your sins are forgiven. And the Scribes and Pharisees that were in every city Christ went preaching to see if they could find something against Him. Hear Him say it, and in their hearts they say this is blasphemy. Christ knows their thoughts and Christ clears Himself of the charge by asking which is easier to say your sins are forgiven or arise and walk. Neither task could any man do, but so very easy for God. And then without a prayer, just His word, the same word that created the universe and all it contains, says, Arise, pick up your bed and go home. Now this man who was so frail and on deaths door and all saw, immediately he has the strength to pick up his bedding and walks home. And as Jesus leaves He see a man collecting taxes and says follow me, and he does, his name is Matthew. Some have experienced Christ's power in our own lives, I have, but my mind can not measure God's power. Yet He allowed Himself to be murdered so that we could be with Him. Amen.
