1. Then was Jesus led up of the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted of the devil.2. And when he had fasted forty days and forty nights, he was afterward an hungred.3. And when the tempter came to him, he said, If thou be the Son of God, command that these stones be made bread.4. But he answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God. Matthew 4:1-4 We have an account of Jesus being led by the Spirit, that came in the form of a dove, after being baptized by John the Baptist his cousin. Jesus having the Holy Ghost without measure from the Father, given for His public service, is led by Him to the wilderness for forty days and nights, after which Christ is hungry. Now the tempter, which is Satan, the accuser of God to men, like with Adam and Eve, and the accuser of men to God, as with Job. Satan's main business is to tempt men to sin, separating them from God. Satan knew Christ as the Son of God before his fall, and also heard the Father at Christ's baptism how He was pleased with Jesus. Satan says if you are hungry, turn these stones to bread. Jesus says from Deuteronomy 8:3, It is written, not by bread alone does man live, but by every word of the mouth of God, (paraphrased). Everything was created by the Word of God, and Christ takes this text meaning the men of Israel were given Mana, from heaven to eat each day in the desert, Christ is saying He need not change stones to bread as His Father watched over His people in the desert He would watch out for His Son. We defeat Satan when we stand on God's word. And you must read it to know it, and if you know it, you will never be the same, for your mind will be renewed, and the body does what the mind says. Amen.
