“Coffee break is over, everybody back on your heads”:
Reality check: I have stirred up a boot load of ego this last year. Now comes the time to measure the real-world effect and just how capable (or not capable) I am still able to deliver in it. I will list three practical projects:
1, The steam turbocharger conversion,
2, The 'shorty' ATV/landscape conversion mover, and
3, The heat recovery pizza oven/greenhouse.
1, This project dials in at a 40-100 HP constant generator (and LP supply) for the turbocharger found available. That ain't happening (for my activity) I may use the turbo for emergency funds or bolt it on the Tracker at some point, to reduce the engine longevity to about 200,000 miles after the top end rebuild (at about 70,000 miles on now). At the heat loss from the 40 HP activity, the closed compression of the heat off the pizza oven to a traditional piston model and alternator looks a lot more fun I will have many other uses for the trailer, besides a public demonstration.
2, The current modifications I have made to the engine containment structure are checkerboard in result (many reasons, mostly cheap). With all the problems on the carb alone (now just waiting the correct main jet, after a dozen re-installations of two carbs with individual complications (and the coil replacement) that ain't going anywhere till spring! Just fed up with the detail in 'cold' conditions.
3, The same can be said for the greenhouse. I wanted to start the block move last fall, but the carb pissed all over that party. Funds are not much an issue, but Spring may be better. I don't even feel like crawling up on the roof deck under 60F to do my sets on the bench press!
More next year...
