1. Out of the depths have I cried unto thee, O LORD.
2. Lord, hear my voice: let thine ears be attentive to the voice of my supplications.
3. If thou, LORD, shouldest mark iniquities, O Lord, who shall stand?
4. But there is forgiveness with thee, that thou mayest be feared.
5. I wait for the LORD, my soul doth wait, and in his word do I hope.
Psalm 130:1-5
The psalmist cries to the Lord, as wise men do when in the depths of sin, caught in the prison of the law, where there is no escape from the debt.
To the Lord who has paid the debt in His own blood. This our dear Lord is ready to hear. The debt to sin paid, sin is thrown as far as the east is from the west, out of the sight of the Almighty.
Without forgiveness, no one would be able to stand in the presence of God. Christ opened the door.
Our hope is in Christ for He freed the soul from sin and death, and by His word do we live. This is why Christ came this, is, His eternal gift to us. As Christmas 2023 passes, remember the gift. Amen.
