9. And the great dragon was cast out, that old serpent, called the devil, and Satan, which deceiveth the whole world: he was cast out into the earth, and his angels were cast out with him.
10. And I heard a loud voice saying in heaven, Now is come salvation, and strength, and the kingdom of our God, and the power of his Christ: for the accuser of our brethren is cast down, which accused them before our God day and night.
11. And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony; and they loved not their lives unto the death.
12. Therefore rejoice, ye heavens, and ye that dwell In them. Woe to the inhabiters of the earth and of the sea! for the devil is come down unto you, having great wrath, because he knoweth that he has but a short time.
Revelation 12:9-12
John sees a woman and a dragon, the woman is the church, she is with child, a picture of all those who will come to Christ, the dragon is Satan.
There is a battle in heaven, Satan is cast out, and all who followed him. This is his first defeat. Others follow, he fails at tempting Christ. The final blow comes at the Cross, where Christ defeats Satan, sin, and death.
John hears a voice from heaven, speaking of salvation, strength, the kingdom of God, and the power of His Christ, this name means anointed, in Hebrew, it means a savior or liberator of a large group of people. Christ has liberated us from Satan and his accusations, from sins power and punishment.
We are redeemed by Christ's blood, we overcome by testifying that Christ is Lord and Savior, the Son of God.
Now listen to the warning given, those in heaven are safe, but woe to those in the earth for Satan has come with great fury to destroy, and he knows his time is short. Therefore, live for Christ the King, and you shall shall have an eternal reward. This is the everlasting gift Christ brought at Christmas. Amen.
