1. The vision of Obadiah. Thus saith the Lord God concerning Edom; We have heard a rumor from the LORD, and an ambassador is sent among the heathen, Arise ye, and let us rise up against her in battle.2. Behold, I have made thee small among the heathen: thou art greatly despised. 3. The pride of thine heart hath deceived thee, thou that dwellest in the clefts of the rock, whose habitation is high; that saith in his heart, Who shall bring me down to the ground?4. Though thou exalt thyself as the eagle, and though thou set thy nest among the stars, thence will I bring thee down, saith the LORD.Obadiah The prophesy God gave to Obadiah. The subject is Edom whose destruction is foretold. This is the kingdom of Esau, the twin brother of Jacob. This is to be considered a type of enemy of Christ and His kingdom. Especially of the antichrist. Because of pride, confidence, and security, the destruction will be complete and entire. This report comes from the Lord, brought by the Spirit of God. The ambassador sent as an impulse to Nebuchadnezzar to rise up in battle against them. Greatly despised because of their small numbers. Their confidence being hid in the rocks and caves, thought themselves safe. They voice who shall bring us down. God's response, if men can not do it, I will. This being like the antichrist lifting himself up high, but like all the enemies of Christ shall be thrown down, for there is none strong like the Lord our God. Amen.
