28. And it shall come to pass afterward, that I will pour out my spirit upon all flesh; and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, your old men shall dream dreams, your young men shall see visions:29. And also upon the servants and upon the handmaids in those days will I pour out my spirit.30. And I will shew wonders in the heavens and in the earth, blood, and fire, and pillars of smoke.31. The sun shall be turned into darkness, and the moon into blood, before the great and terrible day of the LORD come. 32. And it shall come to pass, that whosoever shall call on the name of the LORD shall be delivered: for in mount Zion and in Jerusalem shall be deliverance, as the LORD hath said, and in the remnant whom the LORD shall call.Joel 2:28-32 The prophet writes this some where around 500 years before the birth of Christ. And this prophecy is fulfilled on Pentecost in Acts 2. To the servants the same blessing is given, this indwelling of His Spirit is precious. These next verses are part of history, they speak of the destruction of Jerusalem, if you have seen smoke from a large fire it blocks out the sun and moon giving it a red hue. These are not solar events, but the effects of large destruction on the city where God had made His presence know in the temple. This last verse is prophetic, those who heeded the warning about the destruction or Jerusalem left for a place of saftey. To us it is a warning that without Christ there is no place safe, no place to hide. He gave His life to save us and all who refuse shall be as those outside the Ark in the days of Noah when the floods came. Take heed not one of them survived. Christ is the only answer to those who owe a debt to sin. Amen.
