Revelation 1:1-5
John is given a declaration of what is to come, by Jesus, whom the Father gave Him.
And, John gave a written record of all things Jesus told and showed to him.
Blessed are all who read this book carefully and diligently with a desire to understand it. And reading is not sufficient but we must put into practice what we have read, for it states the time is at hand.
John has a message from Christ to the seven churches in Asia, which are mentioned in verse 11.
John describes Christ as He who is the eternal God, He who was here and gave His life for us, and He who is coming back for His own.
The faithful Son of God, the first of the dead, others in the word were raised from death but they died again, Christ rose from death never to die again, His death washed away sin, death, and any penalty that we deserved. By His blood, this is the present God gave to the world at Christmas. Amen.
