Friedrike Merck (Member 46,137) went birding with the Cornell Lab of Ornithology along the Altamaha River Delta, Georgia, US. All eyes were scanning the skies for birds when these Cirrus clouds appeared. The dense patches of the high ice-crystal cloud are known as Cirrus spissatus, while the thin strands trailing from them are classified as Cirrus fibratus. Comparing them to cloud fireworks, Friedrike said that ‘the spoonbills, oystercatchers, and piping plovers took a backseat as these clouds claimed the sky.’
