1. The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want.2. He maketh me to lie down in green pastures; he leadeth me beside the still waters. 3. He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the path of righteousness for his names' sake.4. Yea, though I walked through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff staff they comfort me.5. Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of my enemies: thou anointest my head with oil. my cup runneth over.6. Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the LORD for ever.Psalm 23:1-6 The psalmist was a shepherd in his youth, and he knows every detail of the work and rewards. He also has a personal knowledge of Christ, who is the Good Shepherd. The Lord will not withhold any good thing from His flock. Sheep eat grass down to the soil and need to be moved they also are afraid of deep and fast moving water, Christ is able as Creator to supply all our needs physically and spiritually. Through the Cross, Christ restored the soul to life and has shown by example the path to travel on. We shall all face death, to some, it shall be a terror to the redeemed it will be a comfort, Satan's power of death and destruction has been defeated by the Shepherd. Christ has prepared everything we need for this life, and the one to come, in abundance. Christ ever with us, daily distributing goodness and mercy into our lives, until at the last we enter into His eternal home in heaven for ever. Amen, Hallelujah.
