1. O give thanks unto the LORD, for he is good: for his mercy endureth for ever.2. Let the redeemed of the LORD say so, whom he hath redeemed from the hand of the enemy;3. And gathered them out of the lands, from the east, and from the west, from the north, and from the south.4. They wandered in the wilderness in a solitary way; they found no city to dwell in.5. Hungry and thirsty, their soul fainted in them. 6. Then they cried unto the LORD in their trouble, and he delivered them out of their distresses.Psalm 107:1-6 The psalmist speaks of the redeemed, and Christ is the author of redemption. Saving by His blood all held captives by Satan, and eternal death. The Gentiles called out from every land. Gathered to Christ by His Gospel and sacrifice of His own life. Paying for all of time the debt of sin to all who submit to His ways. All of us went astray, walking without direction, in the wilderness of sin, where nothing is to be found but death. Spiritually hungry and thirsty in this dessert, Christ offers Himself the Bread of Life and the Living Water. Those who partake are pardon of sin by His blood, and justified. Making Him Lord of everything in their lives. Because He heard their cry, and delivered them, showing them the right way to travel. And filling their hungry souls with the Spirit of the living God. Amen.
