The more I learn about how the U.S. government screwed native Americans, the more I believe what Pogo (Walt Kelly) said is true. It makes me mourn what we have done to native peoples in the name of Manifest Destiny. There is nothing godlike or Christlike about it.
We have reached a point in time where most Americans regardless of their skin pigmentation or cultural background do not trust our government.
The only real question is what do we do about it? In my honest opinion it is a Convention of States. Some would argue that there is no need to rewrite the U.S. Constitution but I beg to differ. I do not believe it should be done away with, but I do believe it needs to be rewritten in such a way that incorporates protections to its' existence that do not require judicial review by SCOTUS; but only by "We, the people."
The U.S. Constitution is crystal clear already, it needs no re-interpretation. What needs to change is immediate Term Limits of elected officials, among other things; and no endless pensions for them while the rest of the country can barely feed their families or pay their bills.
