Dana Belcastro (Member 41,696) watched this cloud fleece creep over the rim of the Ngorongoro Crater in Tanzania as the midday heat set in. The Stratocumulus formation would be described as orographic because it resulted from the effects on the airflow of the terrain – in this case, the world’s largest intact volcanic caldera, which formed when the top of a volcano collapsed in on itself more than two million years ago.
