1. Have mercy upon me, O God, according to thy lovingkindness: according unto the multitude of tender mercies blot out my transgressions.2. Wash me thoroughly from mine iniquity, and cleanse me from my sin.3. For I acknowledge my transgressions: and my sin is ever before me.4. Against thee, thee only, have I sinned, and done this evil in thy sight: that thou mightiest be justified when thou speakest, and be clear when thou judgest.5. Behold, I was shaping in iniquity; and in sin did my mother conceive me.Psalm 51:1-5 The psalmist from experience gives instructions for all who fall into sin, where to apply for forgiveness, how to behave, where to find comfort from the burden sin brings. It is to God we must come, it is by His mercy we are forgiven, it is His love for us that He blots out the remembrance and the punishment, because Jesus has paid the debt in full. We must take responsibility for our sin, if not repented of, it shall follow us to destruction. Even though we might sin against someone else, we have sinned before God, against His commands and He is the eternal Judge. We all were born in sin, we needed no teachers we do it because it is our nature, and only Jesus can create a clean heart and a new spirit in us, for none are born with such. Then we are able to rejoice before the Lord, for salvation comes from Christ, and He will put a new spirit in you. Amen.
