In Norse mythology, the rainbow serves as a bridge, known as Bifrost, that connects Earth to Asgard, home of the gods. This stretch of rainbow was spotted by app user ‘Aukje’ on a mountain slope near Gudvangen, Norway. It formed as a shaft of sunlight shone through a break in the Stratocumulus clouds to illuminate just a patch of the rain falling up ahead. It is a shame Bifrost can only be used by gods and those killed in battle, as this bridge looks like a handy shortcut for mountain climbers.
