1. The Spirit of the Lord God is upon me; because the LORD hath annointed me to preach good tidings unto the meek; he hath sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to them that are bound;
2. To proclaim the acceptable year of the LORD, and the day of vengeance of our God; to comfort all that mourn;
3. To appoint unto them that mourn in Zion, to give unto them beauty for ashes, the oil joy for mourning, the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness; that they might be called trees of righteousness,the planting of the LORD, that he might be glorified.
Isaiah 61:1-3
This again the prophet speaking of Christ, 711 years before Christ was born.
In Luke 4:21, Jesus reads these words, and sits down and says, this day is this scripture fulfilled in your ears.
Truly salvation was to the Jew first, for Zion is mentioned, meaning Jerusalem, the City of David, which King David conquered in 1004BC.
Now God through His prophets, declares a thing before it happens.
And Christ has fulfilled, Isaiah 61, Christ, having the Spirit without measure, He preached the Gospel, to those bound by sin and Satan, He freed those whose hearts were broken with sin, speaking only what the Father told Him, He was obedient unto death. And His death has secured our salvation.
The Bible is God's word, it will renew your mind and transform you. Every year 100 million Bibles are printed and currently there are more than 6 billion in print.
Many have tried to prevent this, but God knows we need the written word, and has kept it safe. It is a powerful book, and does not reward hit and miss reading, but a dedicated reader, who seeks God, in His word, shall, and will be rewarded, ask anyone who has read it more than once. Amen.
