2. For yourselves, know perfectly that the day of the Lord so cometh as a thief in the night. 3. For when they shall say, Peace and safety; then sudden destruction cometh upon them, as travail upon a woman with child; and they shall not escape.4. But ye, brethren, are not in darkness, that that day should overtake you as a thief.5. Ye are all the children of light, and the children of the day: we are not of the night, nor of darkness.1 Thessalonians 5:2-5 Paul reminds the Thessalonians that Christ is coming, His return is sure, yet the day and time is known to no man. Christ's return will be sudden, and when wicked men, say they are safe, and peace is upon them, then sudden destruction shall fall. Paul encourages, all believers that they are not children of darkness, but because of Christ, the Light of the World, they have come into the Light, and where light is no darkness can be. And believers need not sneak around like a thief at night, for Christ our Lord has restored our position as children of God. Amen.
